We are currently focusing on a new manuscript preparation and submission. Our research article is related to the treatment of non-specific vaginitis.
Some highlights of the article are:
· In healthy women, vaginal microbiota is composed of different species of Lactobacillus and aerobic bacteria, depending on age and ethnicity;
· The vaginal microbiome is submitted to permanent changes due to multiple factors, which can lead to urinary tract and vaginal infection;
· Non-specific vaginitis is a distinct clinical entity with particular clinical features such as vaginal inflammation, thinner vaginal mucosa and fewer superficial squamous epithelial cells with an increase in parabasal cells;
· Results from NCT04735705 clinical investigation highlighted that the medical device Cerviron® had a positive impact on the vaginal symptoms score for 72.34% of the study participants, while the changes in inflammatory and parabasal cells were relevant, with most study participants recording an improvement.
